I am currently an MD-PhD student in UC San Diego's Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP). My research interests lie in cancer biology and precision oncology, with a speical interst in tumor-immune interactions and the genetic basis of cancer. To study these questions, I take an integrated approach - I design functional genomic and omics experiments on the wet lab side, and I develop statistical and machine learning models for omic analysis on the dry lab side.
I was a student at Stanford University where I received my MS in Biomedical Data Science in June 2025 and BS in Human Biology with Honors (Cancer Biology & Therapeutic Intervention) in June 2024. I conducted cancer genetics research with the Khavari Laboratory and clinical skin imaging research with the Stanford Skin Innovation and Interventional Research Group (SIIRG).
Research
- In the Khavari Lab, I conducted my undergraduate honors thesis: "Identification of non-coding genetic variants that disrupt cis-regulatory mechanisms of antigen presentation in cancers and autoimmune diseases" (awarded Firestone Medal for Excellence in Undergraduate Research). Research conducted in partnership with Jordan Meyers (experiments), Tania Fabo (experiments), Robin Meyers (data analysis).
- First-authored a review article on "Integrating single-cell and spatial transcriptomics to elucidate intercellular tissue dynamics" (Longo, Guo, Ji, & Khavari, Nature Reviews Genetics 2021)
- Partnered with lab member to build interactive "Human Skin Browser" of single-cell RNA-seq and spatial transcriptomic data of human skin (included as co-author in Thrane et al. Journal of Investigative Dermatology 2023)
- With the Stanford Skin Innovation and Interventional Research Group (SIIRG), I am analyzing and integrating data collected from a total body skin imaging device with EHR and patient survey data. Our ultimate goal is to clinically implement device to optimize removal of potentially cancerous lesions while minimizing excessive biopsies.
Community Engagement
- During the COVID-19 pandemic, I was a Case Investigator & Contact Tracer with Santa Clara County Department of Public Health. I conducted calls in both Spanish and English.
- I began learning Spanish in high school and hope to continue improving my medical Spanish. During undergrad, I studied abroad in Madrid for a term! Shadowing a medical oncologist there was a moving experience.
- I was a founding co-director of the Menlo-Atherton High School Service Learning Center which continues to thrive today! Our mission is improve accessibility to local public service opportunities.
For fun
...you can almost always catch me outside! I am avid runner, tennis player, triathlete, hiker, and I also enjoy skiing, surfing, and climbing. My happiest memory outside was summiting Mt. Whitney with my family and most recently the Boston Marathon! I've been involved with Stanford Club Tennis (including leadership) and Stanford University Triathlon Team. Now I'm on UC San Diego's Triathlon Team!
